The new Spalding League season is already delivering surprises in all three divisions.
In Division One, Drayman’s beat reigning champions Tigers C 7-2 with singles wins for Steve Urch, Logan Goddard, Josh Grainger, Phil Newton and Kev Newton. Goddard and Newton both hit 180s, Urch had a 14-dart leg and Goddard an 18-dart leg.
After two losses in a row, Consti A beat their E team 6-3. Star of the show was Kieran Bowman with a 103 check-out.
A close affair saw Mick Ebbage win the final game to give Rose and Crown a 5-4 win against Green Dragon. Wins for Gary Mace, Dan Carnell, Adam Godfrey and Ebbage were enough to secure victory.
In Division Two, Lincoln A had a convincing 8-1 win against Tigers B. Steve Stancer was the star with a 15-dart leg and a 101 check-out. Danny Goddard of Tigers got a 109 check-out.
Ye Olde Abbey kept up their good start with a 5-4 win at Mail Cart. Stan Browning beat Steve Rawding to get the win. Josh Faulkner hit a 17-dart leg for Mail Cart and JJ Bird had a 180.
Punchbowl A won 7-2 at Consti D with singles success for Harry Walsh, Ant Norman, Simon Fidler and Chris Fidler. 180s were hit by Chris Fidler and Ady Smith.
In Division Three, Punchbowl B beat HUSC 6-3 with the winning game coming from Ryan Munton. Their other singles wins came from Stu Adams, Phil Reed and Jamie McHugh.
Table-toppers Ship Long Sutton lost 5-4 to Oscars, who had Andy Taylor, Carl Kirk, Tracey Baldwin and Daz Hubbard to thank. Baldwin hit a 180.
Drayman’s B got a 5-4 win at Lincoln B with singles wins from Dan Merril and Shane Thorpe sealing victory.
In the Crowson Volkswagen Pinchbeck & District Winter League pairs qualifiers, through to Finals Night on Friday at the Spalding Services Club are – Division A: Ady Smith and Ben Chester (Services Club B), Dan Gent and Jason Chilvers (Lincoln Arms D), Dave Norbury and Colin Beckett (Services Club B), and Steve Stancer and Paul Blow (Lincoln Arms A).
Division B: Matt Broderick and Stu Ewins (Consti Club B) and Craig Woods and Darren Hubbard (Pinchbeck FC).
