Cast your vote for community help

Free cookery sessions could be coming to Holbeach if a new scheme receives enough support.

A plea has gone out for votes in the Tesco Community Grants initiative by Coun Tracey Carter who is organising the scheme.

“After a successful application to Tesco, we are delighted that we have been shortlisted as Holbeach Moving Forwards and are bidding for a cash boost from the Tesco Community Grants initiative, so would really appreciate your support by placing your tokens in the store for our project,” she said.

The Tesco scheme sees shoppers given tokens to vote for their preferred scheme.

Voting is open until the end of September when the scheme with the highest number of tokens will be announced.

Coun Carter said that In the current climate with many families struggling to make ends meet, the classes could be helpful.

“We want to hold free cooking sessions for people both on their own and with families to help them learn how to cook nutritious, healthy meals while also managing on a budget.

“We will be aiming to support this by providing the ingredients so a participant can take items home with them too helping their budget go even further!”

The Holbeach Community Larder and Cafe is also helping over the summer by offering packed lunches for children. Full details can be found on its Facebook page or on www.holbeachcommunitylarder.org.uk
