Captain Coddington at the double as Moulton Harrox battle out draw with leaders Uppingham

Moulton Harrox 2 Uppingham Town 2

Two goals from captain Ashley Coddington earned Moulton Harrox a 2-2 draw with ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division leaders Uppingham Town on Saturday.

The defender, who is always a threat from set-pieces, got a rare double for Bobby Patterson and Tim Cole’s charges as they drew for only the second time in the league so far this season.

Cameron Cleavers and Josh Sennett netted for Uppingham, who remain top of the standings and actually gained a point on second-placed Stilton United, who lost 1-0 at Oakham United.

Harrox stay fourth and are 11 points off Stilton with three games in hand – meaning second place is now within reach.

Co-boss Patterson said: “It was a fair result in the end. Although to go ahead twice and be pegged back is disappointing for us.

“Ashley Coddington scored two top goals, his first was a good header and his second was a great left-footed hit from the edge of the box.

“We dominated the first half but it wasn’t to be. To be fair, their first was a very soft penalty for us to concede.”

Next up for Moulton is a return to League Cup action as they welcome Group D leaders Warboys Town to Broad Lane on Saturday (2pm).

The Division One leaders boast a 100 per cent record so far, with Moulton having won two of their three games.
