Bollards will be put out again

Bollards are set to return to a street only big enough for one vehicle to come down at a time.

Measures to stop people driving along a narrow stretch of road between Palin Drive and Green Lane had been in place for around 20 years.
That’s because the section is not big enough for two vehicles to pass each other along it.
But they were suddenly removed when a home was built nearby and not replaced, despite the 2019 planning permission stating they would be moved further north.
The bollards were replaced by temporary traffic lights while construction on the property took place.
They’ve since been removed, as have all the bollards.
Its led to complaints from local residents about vehicles nearly colliding or having to drive on gardens to avoid each other.
With a number of vehicles using it to avoid temporary traffic lights nearby, it’s led to renewed calls.
Local resident John Coupland says he’s seen lorries getting stuck on the road.
“It’s an accident waiting to happen,” he said. “If they don’t do something soon there’s going to be an accident.
“Drivers come racing down and then find themselves head on down a street that’s only wide enough for one person.”
The bollards are still listed as current road traffic order as made by the authority responsible for highways, Lincolnshire County Council.
It said that the bollards had been removed at the request of a resident, but didn’t respond to follow up questions as to who made the request, when it was submitted and what consultation had taken place over it as required to change traffic orders.
A spokesman though has now said that the bollards will be replaced when work is scheduled to take place.
“We have reviewed all the history and whilst the bollards were taken out at resident request initially, due to the changing circumstances and the fact there was a prior commitment that came to light as part of the planning, we have agreed to put some bollards back in,” the spokesman said.
“These will be at a slightly different location due to the new access.
“This work will be carried out as part of the area’s planned works.”
