Birds missing after Ayscoughfee aviary break in

South Holland residents are being urged to be on the look out for exotic birds after a break in at the aviary in Spalding’s Ayscoughfee Gardens.

The district council hasn’t said how many of the birds are missing or released any details of the incident which happened sometime between midday on Friday March 31 and 7.25am the following morning.

Riverside Veterinary practice are among those who have put out requests for the public to ring them if they see any of the birds, one exotic parrot was reportedly found near B&M in the town.

A spokesman for Riverside said: “Ayscoughfee Gardens has unfortunately had a break in. Some of the birds are now missing.

“If you spot any birds out of the ordinary please call us immediately on 01775 723066.”

A spokesman for South Holland District Council, said: “The team at Ayscoughfee are still assessing the situation.”

Lincolnshire Police says they’re not investigating the incident.

A spokesman said: “Incident 97 of 1st April relates to a burglary at Ayscoughfee Hall believed to have happened at some point around lunchtime on Friday March 31 and 7.25am on Saturday April 1.

“The incident was closed and the victim updated with the decision not to continue with the investigation.”
