Billy bags winner as ten-man Holbeach United progress in League Cup

Billy Smith scored the only goal as Holbeach United won 1-0 at rivals Sleaford Town in the Future Lions UCL League Cup on Wednesday night.

In a first half that saw Tigers’ striker Josh Ford sent off for a late tackle after just 27 minutes, Smith struck the only goal soon after.

Sleaford piled on the pressure after the break, but they couldn’t find a leveller.

Seb Hayes’s Tigers will face Division One opposition at home in the next round, with either Blackstones or Melton Town making the trip to Carter’s Park.

Fellow South Holland side Pinchbeck United will Deeping Rangers at the same stage.
