Billiards round-up: Mick on magic form despite suffering narrow frame loss

An impressive spree of breaks from Mick Johnson was in vain in the Spalding and District Billiards League on Monday night.

Johnson (O170) made scores of 63, 54, 43, 25 and 23 but still lost his frame 200-198 and saw his Consti B side beaten 4-3 by Gosberton A.

In an all-Bourne affair, Pyramid A picked up a 5-2 win over Pyramid B as Tony Curry (R80) won the last frame.

It was tighter as Holbeach B won 4-3 at Donington thanks to wins from Denis Hix (R70) and Chris Chamberlain (R70).

Meanwhile, Mick Cooper (O190) was on-song as Holbeach A beat Consti A 4-3. His breaks of 33, 31, 29, 23 (twice) and 22) weren’t enough for a frame win over Stewart Davies (R40), though.

Alan Hansard (R80) made a 27 break for Consti in defeat.
