Big screen served up for Wimbledon finals weekend

There’s a chance to see top sporting action and some incredible films on the big screen outdoors in the heart of Spalding this weekend.

The huge screen is being put up in the gardens of Ayscoughfee Hall by the Spalding Business Improvement District (BID) and you’re encouraged to take your blankets and chairs along.

Alongside both women’s and men’s finals from the Wimbledon tennis championships being screened at 2pm on Saturday and Sunday respectively, there’s a host of films.

The weekend kicks off on Friday night (July 10) with a showing of Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds.

The legendary thriller is for over 15s only and you’ll need to purchase tickets which cost £8. See link below.

There are films being shown either side of the Wimbledon women’s final on Saturday.

It’s free entry for the showing of Paddington that all the family are invited to at 1pm.

After the final of the tennis, action continues with a screening of King Richard at 8pm.

The powerful film, starring Will Smith, follows Richard Williams’ story of guiding his daughters, Serena and Venus Williams, from ambitious young girls on local tennis courts to two of the greatest sporting legends of all time.

The show is for over 12s only with tickets £8. Tickets for this and The Birds are available at https://spaldingbid.co.uk/big-screen-weekend-11th-12th…/

Ahead of the men’s Wimbledon final on Sunday there will be another free event for all the family as Encanto shows at 1pm.

Ayscoughfee Cafe, which has a licensed bar, will be serving throughout the events.

A BID spokesman said: “Make a weekend of it and explore everything Big Screen Weekend has to offer, with a fantastic line-up of films, family favourites and entertainment for all ages across the three days.”
