Friends’ show of art

Five local friends are putting on an exhibition at a prestigious gallery.

Veronica Pryke, Maggie Goodsell, Gill Harker, Sue Harris and Helen Kempton are putting on Fenland Friends from July 15 to August 5 at the Willoughby Memorial Art Gallery in Corby Glen.

Their works span a variety of styles and medias including oils, watercolour, acrylic, ceramics, sculpture and jewellery.

Maggie, a member of the Spalding Arts and Crafts Society, said: “I was going to do it on my own and Helen was thinking of doing it too, so I think we’ve all pushed each other on to get it organised.

“It’s a heck of a lot of work organising it but I’m looking forward to it.”

A spokesman for the Fenland Friends said: “Inspired by landscapes, flowers, coastal scenes and abstract forms, the exhibition celebrates both the individuality of each artist and the shared creativity and friendship that bring the group together.

“We would like you to join us on Sunday, July 19 from 1pm to 4pm when all artists will be in attendance.

“We hope you enjoy our exhibition.”

Throughout the run the gallery will be open 12pm to 5pm Tuesday to Sunday.
