Barbecue host jailed after change of music sparked violent row

A barbecue host who chased a man from his home and then slashed his tyres after the event descended into violence has been jailed for six months.

Mindaugas Jonusauskas, who was hosting the event at his home, confronted his victim after a dispute over the choice of music being played.
Phil Howes, prosecuting at Lincoln Crown Court, said Jonusauskas was angry after the music he selected was changed and, during an incident in the garden of the property, he struck the victim.
The two men then became involved in a scuffle and although it was initially broken up, the fight continued in the kitchen of the house.

Mr Howes said the second man left the house with his girlfriend but was pursued by Jonusauskas who was armed with a knife.
The victim managed to get into his vehicle and locked the doors. Jonusauskas tried to force his way into the vehicle and then when he found himself thwarted, he slashed two tyres.

The knife of the blade snapped off and was embedded in a tyre but Jonusauskas then used the handle of the knife to shatter the front windscreen.
The man managed to drive away and, when he was a safe distance away, rang police.

Jonusauskas (28), of Kenzie Drive, Sutton Bridge, admitted charges of affray and damaging property arising out of the incident on March 29.

Recorder Tracey Lloyd-Nesling told him: “You completely lost control. This is an extremely serious offence.
“This must have been an extremely frightening experience for the victim and his girlfriend and for anyone else who had seen it.”

Noel Philo, defending, said that Jonusauskas came off worse in the earlier fight and needed hospital treatment.
“This was my client’s home where he lives with his partner. It was a party and he wanted his music playing,” he said. “It may seem trivial but it was his house and he was entitled to say what went on at his party.
“The complainant was asked to leave but he refused.”
