Award honour for brave duo

Holbeach siblings have been presented with an award for battling to save their mum.

Jaiden and Lily Carter performed CPR on their mum Rachel who was rushed to hospital but died the following day.

They were invited to Holbeach Fire Station and Area Manager Dan Moss presented them with Chief Fire Officers recognition certificates for their actions on May 14 this year.

“Lily and Jaiden both did all they could in a traumatic and difficult situation where it would have been easy to panic.

“We wanted to recognise this and offer our condolences to the family in tragic circumstances,” said Dan.

The fire and rescue responder crew who attended the emergency call nominated Jaiden and Lily to recognise their efforts.

Rachel had suffered a brain aneurysm and was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn. Following her death she donated organs to eight people.

Lily had already had a kidney transplant and her dad was waiting for one at the time of Rachel’s death.

He is recovering from his life-changing operation at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge.

  • Holbeach fire and rescue is recruiting ‘on call’ crew and will be holding an open morning on December 5 from 10am to noon.
