Everyone has heard of Oliver Twist, the small Victorian boy who dared to ask for more.
And on Tuesday Red Earth Theatre bring the original story of the famous orphan to the South Holland Centre stage.
Seized by the dastardly Fagin, saved by the philanthropic Mr Brownlow, snatched back by Fagin and once again retrieved, this boy’s tale of suspense and dark deeds is performed in the style of a Victorian music hall.
Fagin, Dodger, Nancy, Sikes and his faithful hound Bulls-Eye will be brought vividly to life by an energetic troupe of music hall artistes in a production that is packed full of surprises and good humour for a modern audience.
“The audience were gripped by the compelling, moving and very often funny telling of the classic story”, Artsbeat blog.
To round off this Dickensian afternoon, the Centre café is running a special offer of Victoria Sponge & Tea for £3.
The Remarkable Tale of Oliver Twist uses British Sign language and Sign Supported English alongside spoken English, so that both deaf and hearing people have equal access to the dialogue at all times.
Tickets are £7.50 from 01775 764777, www.southhollandcentre.co.uk or in person at the Box Office.
