Appeal to help family after house fire in Gedney

An appeal has been launched after a house fire in Gedney

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue were called to Churchgate at 8.37pm on Thursday, June 15.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, said: “Crews from Kirton, Spalding, Long Sutton, Holbeach and the aerial ladder platform from Boston attended to extinguish the fire.

“This incident resulted in fire damage to the entire upper floor, roof space, stairs and hallway of the house with smoke and water damage to the rest of property. A fire investigation is due to take place today.

An appeal has been launched to help a family whose house was damaged in a fire.

Leanne Pavey, who set up the Go Fund Me, posted on Facebook that it was a family of four with a 30 and 17-year-old whose elderly nan lived with them.

The Go Fund Me page states: “They are the most genuine, generous, kind hearted people you will ever meet and they would do anything or help anyone with anything.

“They have put so much time, effort, blood, sweat and tears into making their house an absolutely beautiful family home and today disaster struck and they have had to stand and watch their dream home and everything they have worked hard for just get taken away in the blink of an eye.

“Luckily and thankfully everyone made it out of the house but all of their life long memories and possessions have been stolen from them.

“We need your help to help them rebuild their lives from absolute scratch so please give whatever you can spare at the moment, any amount is very much appreciated no matter how big or small.

“Our hearts are completely broken for this family, they deserve the world but instead this horrible hand was dealt to them.”
