Andy calls for action for Nepal

A human rights activist from Spalding is calling on the UK to help Nepal with its fight against COVID-19 after returning home to Spalding.

Andy Hall has returned to the country where he grew up.

It follows Thailand’s Supreme Court dismissing its lower court rulings that Andy was guilty of defaming exporter Natural Fruit Company. He had previously been ordered to pay around £227,000 in damages.

Since returning to the UK and his Spalding family, Andy has written an open letter to Dominic Raab requesting oxygen is sent to Nepal where he’s been living after being forced out of Thailand due to the threat of legal action.

He’s called on the likes of South Holland and the Deepings MP Sir John Hayes to boost the campaign.
In an open letter, he said: “The situation is urgent and Nepal has run out of oxygen and people are dying at dizzying rates increasing daily.

“Our goal is to reach 10,000 signatures and we need more support from you and others.

“Please also as a UK citizen I ask for you to urgently communicate on this pressing issue to the British government at the highest levels as per your means to ensure support for Nepal at this time.

“And what is crucial is not just oxygen but also vaccines, so please can you push the government to supply both vaccines and oxygen to Nepal ASAP.”

So far more than 8,500 people have signed the petition.
