Amazing double Greek triumph for Pinchbeck Croquet Club members at Corfu event

Pinchbeck Croquet Club’s Charles Ostler has achieved the amazing honour of being crowned Greek National Croquet champion.

The impressive Ostler travelled to Corfu to take part in the Greek National Championship AC Croquet handicap tournament and came out on top.

Amazingly, Gordon Mills and Ken Knock made it a clean sweep for Pinchbeck by also lifting the doubles title at the same event.

Mills and Knock unseated the winning champions from the two previous years – and they finished in time to join the crowd to watch Ostler very carefully play a superb game with many good breaks to beat a much lower handicap, and therefore better, player in the singles final.

There were 26 competitors in total from a host of clubs, including well-known players from around the UK as well as a Corfiot taking part.

  • There was another success for Mills as he also won the Hurlingham Club, Mid-Week Veterans Advanced Handicap singles tournament.
