Air Cadets land at fire station

Members of 2430 (Holbeach) RAF Air Cadets popped in to visit Holbeach Fire Station recently.

The young people were given fire safety input from the Holbeach’s on call crew and were tasked with an initiative exercise devised by the fire crew to search an area to locate a ‘casualty’ whilst being blindfolded to simulate the real-life search firefighters would undertake in a smoke-filled building.

Watch manager John Kinder said: “I was grateful to members of the crew that gave up their time to facilitate the evening.

“Both they and the cadets had a good time and took away some vital fire safety knowledge.”

RAF Air Cadets is open to young people aged between 12 and 18 and they meet twice a week at the Holbeach Squadron in Church Street further details can be found on www.raf.mod.uk/air
