Air Ambulance called as man fell ill and died at work

A 59-year-old man died while working at a Holbeach Bank vegetable growers yesterday (Tuesday).

The Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance attended DGM Growers in Oak House at around 10.45am.

Despite medical assistance including from his colleagues, the man died.

The company has told The Voice there is no evidence the death is related to COVID-19.

A spokesman for DGM Growers, said in a statement last night: It is with great sadness we report that a colleague was taken suddenly unwell at work here today.

“Despite immediate care from our first-aiders and the emergency services, the man could not be saved and was pronounced dead by the attending paramedics.

“The cause of our colleague’s death cannot yet be confirmed. At this stage we have no evidence that Covid-19 is a contributing factor.

“The man was 59-years-old and employed by our agency, Workforce.

“The thoughts of everyone at DGM Growers and Workforce are with his family and friends at this very sad time.

“I want to thank everyone on site for their rapid reactions today in trying everything they could to save this man.

“It has been a traumatic day and we will be ensuring that support for those affected is provided.

“Our local emergency services should be applauded for the support and kindness they have shown us, particularly when they’re under such pressure.”
