Residents in Lincolnshire can now add shampoo bottles and foil to the list of things already taken for recycling.
Lincolnshire County Council is launching a Rescue Me recycling campaign.
Timed to coincide with Recycle Week this week, the council is spotlighting ‘missed capture’ items.
These are everyday items which can easily be overlooked.
This year sees two new recruits – shampoo bottles and foil.
“Lincolnshire is making great strides in recycling. By rescuing these missed items, we can make our recycling efforts even more impactful. Let’s keep up the great work and make our county’s recycling better than ever before,” said Coun Danny Brookes, chairman of Lincolnshire Waste Partnership said.
Recycle Week is in its 22nd year and is the country’s biggest celebration of recycling.
Catherine David, Chief Executive Officer of WRAP, said: “Recycle Week continues to be a powerful moment to inspire action across the UK, and this year’s Rescue Me! Recycle campaign is no exception.”
Added to last year’s list including trigger sprays, aerosols, yoghurt pots, aftershave and perfume bottles and toilet roll tubes are the shampoo bottles and foil.
“We are making it easier to do the right thing and keep valuable materials in use,” added Catherine.
WRAP is a non-government organisation focusing on circular living and specifically working on product and food systems.
Food waste will be added to the list in South Holland with the arrival of wheelie bins and food caddies. The move has been welcomed by some residents and condemned by others.
