The 2019 Stock Car season got under way at the Adrian Flux Arena on Saturday night – and the entertainment levels were through the roof.
Racers from all across the United Kingdom and as far away as the Netherlands ventured to King’s Lynn, taking part in the highly competitive opening night.
There was plenty of bumper work, high impact thrills and spills and great racing from start to finish.
Luke Grief very fittingly retained the 2 Litre Saloon Stock Cars Clive Grief Memorial Trophy. Grief, formerly from the local area, relocated and made the special trip from Edinburgh to compete in his dad’s memorial race and turned in a very determined drive to take the chequered flag.
Meanwhile, Jack Lower took the Memorial trophy in the 1300 Stock Cars and Daniel Ford, from Sheffield, won the feature win in the World Qualifying Round for the BriSCA F2’s.
However, South Holland drivers struggled for results after suffering troubles throughout the evening.
Holbeach’s Wesley Starmer (2 Litre Saloon Stock Cars) got the best place in the main race with a tenth. He also had the most consistent night with top ten places across the meeting.
Simon Venni, from Spalding, had the best result with a fourth place in the Allcomers.
In the 1300 Stock Cars, Holbeach’s Stephen Murphy from finished second in the opening ‘stars of the future’ race, while Spalding’s Jason Clow coming home in ninth place in their main race of the evening.
The South Holland drivers will be hoping for an improved showing at the next meeting on March 16 where three bangers classes will race and the 1300 Stock Cars will be back.
