Five-star Pinchbeck United extended their unbeaten run to eight games with an emphatic 5-0 win over Stilton United on Saturday.
Ian Dunn’s side have also won five on the bounce without conceding a goal – and are sitting pretty in fifth place in the ChromaSport Peterborough Premier Division.
After a goalless first half at Knight Street, a rare Luke Gardner goal gave Pinchbeck the lead before new signing Dan Woods opened his account for the club with a trademark double.
Top scorer Tony Edwards and the versatile Ash Murrell also got on the scoresheet to make it another impressive day for Pinchbeck.
Dunn said: “It was one of those games where the opposition came and defended very deep.
“Once we got the first goal, the floodgates opened and the result was never really in doubt.
“Again, our keeper Jordan McCready hasn’t had a save to make. That was down to the defence being very strong again – we snuffed out any attacks they had.
“I was pleased with another clean sheet, but also to see five goals go in at the other end.
“It was great to see Dan Woods get a couple of goals, his second was a real cracker. Once he gets fully fit he’ll be a really big player for us.
“We’re now looking up the table and I’m very happy with our position.
“If we can win our next two league games before the next round of the county cup we’ll be sitting pretty.
“The aim is to go unbeaten through October – and I’m sure we will.”
