Holbeach United have seen two hotly-anticipated derby fixtures postponed this week.
The cold weather and rainfall saw Tuesday night’s Lincs FA Senior Trophy clash at Deeping Rangers called off, while a fire in the away dressing room at Carter’s Park has forced the Tigers to postpone their Uhlsport UCL Premier Division derby with Boston Town this Saturday.
An explosion at the council-owned dressing room on Saturday has caused severe damage, meaning that Carter’s Park is not currently able to host non-league matches.
Boss Danny Hussey is hopeful that the situation will be resolved soon, but admits it is out of the club’s hands as to when repair work will be undertaken.
Hussey said: “Obviously it’s not ideal that we can no longer host fixtures – Saturday’s game with Boston Town has already been postponed.
“We’re quite lucky that our upcoming home games are against local teams, so if we have to re-arrange them as midweek fixtures later in the season it shouldn’t hurt us too badly.
“We’d hope that things will be sorted for the game against Sleaford Town on December 21, but it’s out of our hands.
“We don’t own the changing rooms but some of the property in there was ours. At this stage it’s hard to know the extent of the damage, we’re waiting for the health and safety advisers and insurance people to have a look.
“We’re just hopeful that things get sorted and that we’re able to host games again soon.”
Meanwhile, Deeping midfielder Sam Murphy has turned down the Tigers.
