A ‘bigger, better, beanier’ panto

It’s still panto season (oh yes it is) thanks to the Sutton Bridge Players.

From tonight (Thursday) until Saturday (February 20-22) they’re putting on Jack and the Beanstalk at the Westmere School in Sutton Bridge.
“Come one, come all and gather round for the most anticipated event of the year!” a spokesman for the Sutton Bridge Players said. “We are thrilled to announce the third annual pantomime, Jack and the Beanstalk penned by Heckington based scriptwriter Kei Bailey.
“Following the roaring successes of previous pantomimes, ‘Cinderella’ and ‘The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’, their latest award-winning performance of the one-act play ‘Rambles on the Radio’ the group is back with a tale that promises to be bigger, bolder and beanier than ever before.
“A night of laughter, magic, and mayhem awaits as Sutton Bridge Players bring this classic tale to life with a whimsical twist.
“Expect the unexpected, cheer for the hero, boo the villain, and most importantly, have a jolly good time!”
Ren Shilcock, chair of Sutton Bridge Players said: “After a record breaking summer for us at Hunstanton, winning three awards at the One Act Drama Festival, I’m thrilled to be able to bring another show to Sutton Bridge.
“It’s a pleasure to welcome back Rachelle Carnell as director, whose dedication brought us our first pantomime, Cinderella, in 2023.
“Assisting her is Charlotte, who excelled as “Dorothy” last year in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and now steps in as our assistant director, choreographer, and “Jill” on stage.
“We’re ever thankful to our backstage crew and our talented cast.
“We are proud to be a multi-award-winning amateur theatre group that is able to bring performances to the local area.”
Tickets are available for tonight at and tomorrow at 7.30pm.
At the time of writing there were still a limited number available for the 7.30pm showing on Saturday, though the 2.30pm matinee is sold out.
Tickets are £7.50 with children free though they must be accompanied by a paying adult. Tickets available from 07907 827108, or email [email protected]
