Andrew Kilby has made a habit of catching the tench on the North Level at Main Road this season – and he showed his big fish skills yet again at the latest Sunday club match.
Drawn on end peg and golden peg six, it was almost inevitable he would find one or two tench from there.
As it was, he managed eight fish up to almost 7lb, the first coming after a couple of hours to his worm and caster feed and then steadily to the end of the match for an excellent 36lb 4oz and a comfortable win.
John Bates was on peg two and took a different approach to most, fishing a small feeder with chopped worm about three quarters across for a lovely net of good perch and a solitary skimmer for 11lb 14oz and second spot.
Steve Borrett and Don Green were either side of the bridge and had similar nets with Borrett just edging it with 11lb 9oz of whip and waggler caught rudd to Green’s 10lb 12oz of rudd all on the 8m whip to hand.
Wednesday Open (at Main Road): 1st John Taylor 6lb 2oz; 2nd Ian Benton 5lb 9oz; 3rd Dennis Houghton 3lb 14oz.
