Dunn left frustrated in his hunt to secure a new striker for Pinchbeck United

Ian Dunn admits that his bid to bring a goal-getter to Pinchbeck United is proving to be mission impossible.

The Knights, who are embroiled in a relegation scrap with Sleaford Town in the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division, have scored just 12 league goals all season.

They’re on a 14-game losing run and haven’t won a game in any competition since September.

Dunn, who takes his side to fellow strugglers Oadby Town this Saturday (3pm on the 3G at De Montford University), has added experience to his squad in recent weeks – but says his hunt for a striker has been difficult.

“I just can’t seem to get a goalscorer in,” bemoaned Dunn. “I thought we had one sorted earlier in the week, but he went somewhere else at the 11th hour.

“We’re always improving and have added some vital experience, but we just haven’t got anybody to put the ball in the net and stretch teams.

“I don’t really know where to turn next, if I’m being honest.

“Other than that, I don’t think that we’re 1,000 miles away from getting it right.

“There’s still a long way to go, we’re not even halfway through the league fixtures.

“Oadby will be a different prospect on the 3G, we’ll have to be mindful of that.

“They sat in and defended against Holbeach, but I expect they’ll try and play a bit against us.”

Key man Ollie Maltby is missing for the Knights.
