Hussey very happy with Holbeach United’s impressive win at Harborough Town

An impressive second-half showing inspired Holbeach United to an eye-catching 3-0 victory at Harborough Town on Saturday.

Goals from Luke Avis, Nick Jackson and Will Bird fired the Tigers to all three points in the Uhlsport UCL Premier Division clash at The HTFC Community Ground – and made it five wins on the spin in all competitions.

Holbeach player/boss Danny Hussey was very happy with what he saw from his side – especially given that Harborough play on an artificial service.

“I’m very happy with the performance,” enthused the Tigers chief.

“Harborough are a very good side, especially on their own pitch.

“The first half could have gone either way. We just weren’t tight enough in midfield, but got the boost of a goal from Luke just before the break.

“We were much tighter in the second half and, if I’m honest, I felt we dominated the match.

“We nullified their threat and could really have scored more than we did.

“Liam Adams and Luke Avis both had great games and combined really well for the first goal, while Nick Jackson is doing what we’ve asked him to do and attacked the six-yard box well for his goal.

“Will Bird did really well off the bench too and could have had a hat-trick.

“He’s really knocking on the door for a starting position at the moment.

“Overall it was a really good day for us.”

The win left the Tigers in fourth place, before Rugby Town leapfrogged them on Tuesday night by beating Desborough Town 12-0.

Tigers: Drury, Braithwaite, Fairweather, N Jackson, T Smith, A Jackson, Tinkler, Avis, Adams, Lockie, Ford. Subs used: Nicholson, Bird, Oliver. Not used: Lovelace.
