Over 1,000 homes were left without power and the A17 closed for a spell after a lorry trailer is believed to have hit power cables.
The incident occurred in the Moulton Marsh area around 7.45pm last night (Sunday, July 26).
A police spokesman said: “We received a call reporting to a fire after a trailer from a lorry is believed to have struck electrical cables on the A17, at the junction with Red Cow Drove in the Moulton Marsh area.
“No one is believed to have sustained injuries.”
The incident led to the surrounding fields catching on fire.
National Grid say 1,056 properties were left without power as a result of the incident with some places not having their electricity supply back until 3am this morning.
A spokesman said: “Thank you for your patience during this time. We’re committed to maintaining reliable power to your community.”
A spokesman for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, said: ” Six crews from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue have responded to reports of an electrical fire on the A17 near Fosdyke, Boston, at approximately 1948 on 26 July.
“Crews used two hose reels, eight beaters and were assisted by farm machinery to extinguish.
“There was significant damage to a van, five acres of wheat, an electricity pole and attached wires.
“The cause of the fire was determined as sparks from an electricity pole which ignited the vehicle and standing crop.”
