New delay as wait for Pinchbeck road to open continues

Works to fix the sinking Enterprise Way in Pinchbeck have been hit by new delays.

Lincolnshire County Council says it had hoped to start resurfacing works after Anglian Water had finished repairs this week.

However today (Friday, July 24), it’s ‘discovered wastewater’ at the site

A county council spokesman said: “The setback has had a direct impact on LCC’s reinstatement works which will now have to be reset.

“Following the completion of recent Anglian Water repairs to the area, LCC was back onsite to put the road back to working order.

“However, further investigations carried out by LCC have now found water at the surface of the sinkhole site, and new evidence of surcharge from a nearby foul water manhole.

“LCC has reported the issue to Anglian Water, which has been asked to return to site to carry out further inspections and any necessary remedial works.

“Lincolnshire County Council is working closely with Anglian Water to minimise disruption and will provide a further update once revised completion dates have been confirmed.

“We would like to thank residents, businesses and road users for their patience while this latest issue with water onsite is addressed.”

The road has been closed in both directions since May, the third time in recent years due to sinkholes appearing.
