Munro celebrates a century

It’s 100 not out for the Munro Medical Centre who celebrated their centenary in style with some of their patients who are around the same age as the practice.

It was set up by Dr James Ramsey Munro in September 1919 in High Street before moving to its current West Elloe premises in 1996.

And on Wednesday, September 25 staff joined patients aged around 100 and their families for a special cake and to swap memories of Munro.

The practice’s Dr Graham Wheatley, said: “It was a really fun and up-lifting event.

“To hear people’s stories and numerous eulogies about the healthcare they’ve received at Munro really makes you want to go on another 100 years.

“Following the 70th anniversary of the NHS last year it was another great reason to celebrate helping our patients over such a long period.”
