GCSE students collected their results at University Academy Holbeach this morning (Thursday) were met with praise from the school’s executive principal who was celebrating the school’s results.
Executive Principal Steven Baragwanath said the school’s results were down to “the hard work from everyone concerned”.
The year group had a 100 per cent pass rate in a number of subjects, including Biology, Chemistry, Hair and Beauty, Engineering -which had 98 per cent grade 5 and above – and Health and Social Care.
In English, the year group had a 74 per cent pass rate, 95 per cent passed physics, 94 per cent passed Food Preparation and Nutrition.”
Mr Baragwanath said: “I’m delighted, the kids have done really well and I think they’ve made excellent progress, and I think significantly better progress than pupils nationally.”
“They were a very good year group, very committed. They took advantage of all the extra support that was given to them.”
This support included Saturday school, which ran from October to June, and a nine-day Easter school which ran over the Easter holidays.
“Something like 140 out of 170 kids signed up for Easter school and came in for nine days over the Easter holidays,” Mr Baragwanath explained.
“Their attendance was very good aswell, and they were what I’d call a very biddable yeargroup – they listened to advice.”
“I’m particularly pleased,” he added.
In Maths, 65 per cent of pupils passed and 27 percent of pupils got the English Baccalaureate (EBacc) – a pass in English Language and Literature, Maths, the sciences, Geography or History and a language.
“That shows they’ve got a really broad success so I just want to say thanks to all the staff and governers for working so hard, well done to all the youngsters, they deserve their success, and good luck for all their futures.”
