A police officer has received a fine and three points on his licence after being found guilty of a driving offence in Weston.
PC Ryan Martin Murphy (33)entered a guilty plea at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court last Tuesday (June 11) after being charged with driving a Suzuki Swift car “without due care and attention” at Broadgate, Weston, on December 8 last year.
PC Murphy, who did not attend court, faces a fine of £180.
He was also ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £30 and was ordered to pay costs of £85.
PC Murphy has also had his driving licence endorsed with three points.
His guilty plea was taken into account when imposing the sentence.
PC Murphy, of Weston, is an officer serving with Cambridgeshire Constabulary.
A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Police said the offence occurred while PC Murphy was off-duty.
The spokesman added: “Internally it is currently being looked at now and there may not yet be a decision made on it.”
In 2012, PC Murphy was awarded a top honour from The Humane Society after stopping to save the life of a motorcyclist in a road traffic collision in Spalding while off-duty.
