LETTERS – iPads? I care about speeding

I am absolutely dumbfounded by the amount of money wasted on buying councillors ‘top of the range iPads’ and at how quickly they authorise themselves to buy them – councillors are given a lot of money which should allow them to buy their own iPads.

I have been chasing Coun Brewis for three and a half years for something to be done about the speeding traffic on Bridge Road, Sutton Bridge but the reply I have had from him is that ‘three and a half years is not a long time’!

Five times now I have been on the zebra crossing by the school entrance when vehicles travelling at speed have swerved around me rather than stopping, and I know of others who have experienced the same problem.

I have suggested a speed camera but the councillor tells me they cannot afford one, perhaps speed bumps would slow drivers down!

When I telephoned the police I was told at first that they would not log the incident. I feel they are waiting for someone to be killed before anything is done.
