Impressive away wins for Spalding Golf Club’s top men’s teams

Spalding Golf Club’s first and second teams enjoyed successful weekends away at Sleaford and Burghley Park respectively.

Playing amid incredibly testing winds, the first team raced into a 2-0 lead before being pegged back with one game left on the golf course.

One down on the 18th green and needing to win the hole for the game, Hugo Kedzlie produced a nerveless birdie putt from five feet to secure the half in the sixth match and a 3.5-2.5 victory for Spalding.

It was a different story at Burghley Park for the second team, with none of the six pairings losing in a 4-2 victory.

Special mention to club President Max Ellis and John Crampton for stepping in at the 11th hour and securing a half.

The fearsome duo have 150 years of experience between them.
