Sunday football: Jubilee end 42 years of hurt with five-star cup triumph

After 42 years trying, Jubilee have finally got their hands on the Spalding and District Sunday League’s Knockout Cup.

The Spalding side, who are led by inspirational 61-year-old player/boss Paul Rudkin, denied League and John Chappell Shield winners Sutton St James a treble by winning 5-0 at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field on Sunday.

Their goals came from Declan Earth (2), Danny Maddison, Louis Steadman and Chris Beale, but the man-of-the-match prize went to keeper Matt Brackenbury.

St James were also handed their league trophy on the day.

  • The only league game to take place on Sunday saw Pinchbeck United Sunday defeat South Holland United 3-0.

Jack Issitt, Will Munton and Reece Precious bagged the goals at Knight Street.
