Cowbit has an exciting new play area after roping in a £20,000 donation from a house builder.
The new Rope Rush was officially opened by parish councillors on Tuesday, February 19.
The village’s Parish Council says it was disappointed to be denied the chance to fund the equipment from Section 106 money.
But Ashwood Homes, which is building near the site, stepped in and provided the money for the equipment.
“The kids have really taken to it,” said parish councillor Chris Elliott who admitted that he himself had also had a go, but failed to finish, the course.
“It’s a terrific addition and huge thanks go to the support from Ashwood Homes.
“We have a vision to improve the whole park.”
The Rope Rush itself cost £14,000 and more of the Ashwood grant has gone towards repairs to the ground’s pavilion and already established swings.
Peter Simpson, the vice chair of Cowbit Parish Council, said: “Unfortunately this area has been underused for many years and this equipment is helping bring it back to life and help so it can be used
by the whole village, and not just by the children.”
