Spalding Speed Watch action date set

Volunteers willing to give up their time in a bid to reduce speeding in South Holland are invited to attend the group’s first action force meeting for Spalding.

The town will recruit a group of Speed Watch volunteers and you can register an interest at the meeting on Monday, February 25, at the Castle Sports Complex at 6pm.

Rural co-ordinator Jan Whitbourn said in her invitation to volunteers: “Like you, I am increasingly concerned about the number of speed related incidents in South Holland and want to help to do something about it.

“If you are as tired as I am of speeding drivers in our community please consider joining us and being part of a group in your area.”

A number of Speed Watch groups are already in action, with regular stations in villages around South Holland.

Jan added: “We have held many training sessions already and I can tell you that it is working in many villages around South Holland. Many volunteers have come forward and are increasingly getting results and the statistics are already showing improvement.

“As the co-ordinator for Community Speed Watch throughout South Holland, I believe that, with sufficient volunteers, we can all help to make a difference and reduce this menace over time.”
