Goals galore as Moulton Harrox crush title rivals Thorney in PFA Senior Cup

Three players helped themselves to doubles as Moulton Harrox thrashed fellow ChromaSport PDFL Premier Division high-fliers Thorney 7-0 in the PFA Senior Cup on Saturday.

Tom Panton, Joe Townsend and Marcus Parry each netted twice, with Declan Earth getting the other in a dominant display from Kev Nottingham’s side at Campbell Drive.

Harrox – who are joined in the semi-finals by Ketton, Whittlesey Athletic and Stamford Lions – are hoping to go one better than last season, when they were beaten 4-2 by Netherton United in the final.

Moulton are now without a game until January 19 and could see their seven-point lead at the top of the PDFL Premier Division cut.

Harrox: Watkin, McGuire, Coddington, Watkin, Groves, Robinson, Panton, Kisla, Thorold, Parry, Earth, Townsend. Subs used: Lambe-Hyner, Morgan, B Nottingham.

  • Moulton’s Reserves were handed a 2-1 defeat by Eye United in ChromaSport PDFL Division One on Saturday.

Goals from Daniel Gargan and Luke Gasson sank Harrox – who fielded first-teamers Billy King and Jake Cawthorne – at Broad Lane, with Chris Beale notching the home reply.

The defeat leaves the defending champions tenth in the table ahead of Saturday’s home date with lowly FC Peterborough (2pm).
