Best ever year for Give a Gift drive

The generosity of the public will make Christmas a much nicer time for those in need as the Give a Gift campaign celebrates its most successful year to date.

Spearheaded by Coun Harry Drury, Give a Gift has got donated toys to less fortunate for the last seven years.

Harry said: “Even after seven years of doing this, I am absolutely overwhelmed and humbled once again at the huge number of toys donated by the hugely generous community across South Holland.

“I would like to personally and on behalf of my team, like to thank every single person who has donated and contributed towards what is our most successful year to date.

“We have seen in the Voice Newspaper over the past few weeks the incredible demonstration of generosity from businesses and members of the public, without whom, there would be children in our local area, who would have received little to nothing this Christmas.

“Special thanks must go to The Spalding and South Holland Voice and each of the campaign partners, without each of these businesses and organisations being involved and helping with the collections and donations, we could not run this campaign, it is very much a collective team effort across the whole community. Thank you to everyone involved and a very Merry Christmas.”

South Holland District Council leader Rodney Grocock added: “It’s absolutely fantastic to witness the huge number of toys generously donated by the local community. South Holland District Council are proud to support such an important campaign which will bring a smile to so many less fortunate children and families at what could be a very difficult time of the year.”

With so many toys to move, Jack Smith from Definitions Health and Fitness said he jumped at the chance to help.

“I saw the appeal for help with delivery and with the new Smudge Fitness van having been recently purchased, I was happy to use it to help in such an important task of distributing the donated Christmas Presents to less fortunate children.

“I can’t bear to imagine how hard it is for less fortunate families, especially at this time of year and the team at Definitions were happy to help in any way possible,” Jack said.

The Voice office was packed with toys during the campaign, we thank everyone who donated.
