Council to investigate cracks in Spalding venue auditorium

Long, deep cracks in a wall of the South Holland Centre auditorium will be investigated in the new year.

South Holland District Council spent £250,000 on “essential works” on the Spalding venue in September this year and said the cracks had been there a number of years and weren’t covered by the works, as these focussed on the outside of the building, a council spokesman said, and added the cracks had been present for a number of years.

“The superficial cracks on the internal wall of the South Holland Centre Auditorium have been fully assessed by the South Holland District Council

Property Services team and currently pose no issues to the building or its visitors.

“They are wholly unrelated to the maintenance work which took place earlier this year which dealt with the exterior of the building.

“Further investigatory work is scheduled to take place in the coming weeks, after which repairs will be arranged for an appropriate time.”

No date has been given for the further investigation.
