Display to mark 100th anniversary of World War One ending

A display of memorabilia to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One is officially opening in Spalding this weekend.

Broad Street Methodist Church’s hand-crafted Poppy and Memorabilia display opens on Saturday (October 26) for the first time between 10am and 12 noon.

The indoor display will be open on Tuesday and Saturday mornings right up until the church’s Service of Remembrance is held on Sunday, November 11 from 10.30am.

Minister Reverend Frances Ballantyne, said: “Posters and invitation cards have been circulated around the local churches and wider community.

“We extend a warm welcome to everyone to come and view our superb display commemorating the centenary of the ending of World War One, which opens this Saturday”

The church is also to run a photographic exhibition alongside the memorabilia on Saturday, November 10 entitled Uprooted and Overlooked.

It includes pictures taken by the charity Christian Aid of refugees who stay in their own countries.
