Snooker round-up: Leading quartet setting fierce pace at the top of Division One

It’s tight at the top of Division One in Spalding and District Snooker League after six rounds of fixtures with just two points spanning the top four sides.

Still leading the way are unbeaten Pyramid B, who made it six wins from as many games by seeing off friendly foes Pyramid A 4-2.

At 2-1 down with two frames to go, the table-toppers looked like losing for the first time in the all-Bourne affair. But Richard Skellett (O7) and Alfonso Palumbo (O49) rose to the occasion to get them over the line in a match that saw team-mate Jason Green (O63) make a 30 break.

Holbeach A remain a point off the pace in second after triumphing 4-2 at Long Sutton A. Colin Dodds (O7) settled that tight tussle with a final frame victory.

Now level with them are third-placed Services E, who romped to a 6-0 success over Consti F. Martin Spencer’s (O21) 24 break was their highlight.

A further point back and completing the top four are Bourne SC A, who edged out Services C 4-2. Pete Hodgson-Kerry (O21) was that match-winner for them in the final frame.

At the other end of the table, Donington A are three points adrift after a 5-1 home reverse against Tulips A.

Two 31 breaks from an in-form Bren Bowman (O56), plus breaks of 24 and 29 from Brett Maddison (O7) and Mike Sampson (O7) inspired the Spalding side.

Elsewhere in the top tier, a 35 break from Darren Woodberry (O42) couldn’t stop Tulips B going down 5-1 at home to Boundary B.

An impressive 22 clearance from Adam Braybrook (O7) also helped Services F beat Donington C 4-2, despite Neil Reynolds’ (O49) 32 break.

In Division Two, a fine 37 break from Wayne Fobelets (O28) helped Consti G see off hosts Gosberton A 5-1 and moved them two points clear at the top.

Services A are now second after their 4-2 reverse at Boundary C.

A black ball win from Aidan Sutton (R7) in the final frame got the Deepings side over the line in that one.

Holbeach B head three teams on five points off the summit after they won 5-1 at Consti H, who remain without a win at the bottom.

Pyramid D are one of that trio following their 5-1 home success against club mates Pyramid C, with a black-ball victory from Pete Grose (R7) proving key.

Meanwhile, Services B picked up their maiden victory of the season with a 5-1 victory over Consti B.

A 28 break from Tim Nash (O28) was their highlight.

Also 5-1 winners were Long Sutton B, who dispatched hosts Crowland B with a 5-1 scoreline of their own.

Their wins came from Mick Tiller (scr), Tom Horspool (O35), Wayne Howard (O28) and Steve Godfrey (O35).

Down in Division Three, Long Sutton C reclaimed top spot with a 5-1 victory over Whittlesey A as Dan Mayfield (O28) managed a cool 22 clearance.

They are level on points with Donington B, who enjoyed a 4-2 home triumph over fellow high-fliers Consti D. A black ball win from Phil Burrell (R7) was pivotal for the early pace-setters.

Two points back in third are Gosberton B, who shaded a tight tussle at Pyramid E 4-2.

Also in the bottom tier, a 25 break proved fruitless for Holebach E ace Richard Lowe (O28) as Donington D enjoyed a handsome away victory.
