Veterans remember regiment’s fallen

A remembrance service for the 1st Parachute Squadron of the Royal Engineers was well-attended.

The names of the fallen were read at the church service in Donington on Sunday, September 23.

Outside, at the memorial beneath the Arnhem Oak, which was brought back as a sapling from the battelfield, a service was held for the internment of Lt Peter Stainforth who died in December (inset).

Next year will mark the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Arnhem and the service will be on Sunday, September 29.
