South Holland ace Venni to take centre stage on huge weekend of stock car action

There is a massive weekend of stock car racing for South Holland drivers and fans at King’s Lynn this weekend.

The biggest night of the season for the 2L Stock Cars takes place on Saturday (5pm) when the world final is held – then on Sunday (1pm) Steve Newman will be remembered with his annual memorial meeting.

Long Sutton’s Simon Venni will take centre stage on both days.

He is the only local driver to have qualified for the world final and he will line up for the big race on the eighth row.

Following a slow start to the season, Venni has hit a purple patch of form – which recently included a final victory at King’s Lynn. He will enter Saturday full of confidence.

Looking to join Venni on the world final grid (through the last chance race) will be Holbeach’s Wesley Starmer and Spalding’s Rob Heanes.

Sunday then sees the sport remember Quadring Fen’s Newman, who was a top driver in both 2L and 1300 Stock Cars.

He died following a racing accident back in 2012, aged just 36.

His memorial race is an event which is as important to many as the world final.

His good friend Venni will be looking at winning this important race for the third successive season.

The race will also be run for the 1300 Stock Cars where Dan Booth will be going all out for the victory.
