The Rotary Club of Spalding and Welland’s 24th annual Gateway Sports Day proved a huge success again at the Castle Sports Complex.
The event on Sunday, July 15, which was for disabled competitors from Gateway Clubs, was a fiercely contested between Spalding Gateway Club and Boston Gateway Club, the latter coming out on top in scorching heat.
Arthur Simmonds, of Nene Valley Harriers, judged the competitors with Richard Thacker, the master of ceremonies, and a fantastic buffet provided by the Inner Wheel Club of Spalding, Rotary Wives and The Woodlands Hotel.
The Rotary Club’s first female president Fay Barrett presented the medals.
A spokesman for Rotary said: “The heat did not reduce the energy and the competitive spirit of all those involved and a great number of medals were won.”
