Trust pays £99k compensation

The Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust has paid out more than £99,000 in compensation, according to figures released by a legal company.

It says the Trust is among ten NHS Trusts out of 236 in England which have paid out the highest amounts settling legal claims in relation to medication error negligence.

The data, obtained by Medical Negligence Assist, reveals the trust has had 16 claims and incidents of medical negligence relating to medication errors.

The figures have come from NHS Resolution, the legal arm of the health service.

The Trust runs Pilgrim Hospital, Boston, Lincoln County, Grantham and District and County Hospital, Louth.

Errors can include failures to properly monitor patients on powerful drugs, poor communication between GPs and hospitals and giving the wrong medication.
