Six times over the drink drive limit

A man has been charged with drink driving after producing a roadside test result that led officers to believe he was six times over the drink drive limit.

Spalding Police inspector Gareth Boxall tweeted that a man had given an initial test reading of 215 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.”

Inspector Boxall said: “Astounded to see that drink driver, caught yesterday, blew 215 at the roadside (legal limit is 35)!”

A man has subsequently been charged with driving with excess alcohol, driving whilst disqualified and driving without Insurance following an incident on Tuesday, February 5.

The amount he was over the limit may not match charges, as an evidential reading is taken at the police office following the initial roadside test. Due to the time lapse these tests usually provide a lower result.
