Baytree backs Give a Gift appeal

The Give A Gift Appeal has received a huge boost this week thanks to Baytree Garden Centre donating 300 presents.

The gifts donated by the Weston garden centre will be added to scores of amazing gifts given by our incredibly generous readers, ensuring children who wouldn’t normally get a present will have a happier Christmas.

Harry Drury, of We’ll Let Your House, said: “I would personally like to thank Baytree for giving such admiral and extraordinary support to the local community.”

John Birch, of Baytree, said: “This is a very worthwhile cause and one that we have helped to support since it was set up. Christmas is first and foremost about family time and to see a child’s face when he or she opens a present is a joy to behold that words alone cannot describe.”

The Spalding and South Holland Voice teamed up with We’ll Let Your House to launch the appeal and since then readers have been leaving gifts at drop-off points.

We’ll be delighted if you decide to support the appeal, which closes on December 15, but ask you please not to gift wrap your present – they need to be assessed to ensure families receive toys suitable for their child’s age and gender.

We are accepting gifts suitable for children from one year to 14 years.

We cannot accept secondhand items, cuddly toys without a CE label, cosmetics, make-up, bath products or perishables.

Separately, top quality used cuddly toys carrying the CE mark are sought by the Donate A Cuddle appeal as part of Ella’s Project.

Organiser Mark Le Sage said: “We normally only accept clothes but only until December 15 we will accept donations of good quality cuddly toys to help put a smile on to a child’s face this Christmas.”

Donations for both appeals can be left at collection points at:

  • Our reception in Winsover Road, Spalding
  • We’ll Let Your House, Broad Street, Spalding
  • Sainsbury’s, Spalding
  • Beales Department Store, Market Place, Spalding
  • South Holland District Council, Priory Road, Spalding
  • Baytree Nurseries Winter Wonderland, Weston
