Medals aplenty as Spalding Gymnastic Academy girls impress on two fronts

The girls from Spalding Gymnastic Academy produced a sensational showing across the board at the County Team Level 5/4/3/2 competition.

Leading the way were the Level 5 ‘A’ team, who took the gold medal in a category where the ‘B’ team also performed to the best of their ability.

Also in the medals were the Level 3 team, who secured the silver medal in a closely-fought contest, and the Level 2 team with a brilliant bronze.

At Level 4, Spalding gymnastics were just edged out of the medal positions and claimed fourth place.

Spalding gymnasts were also on-song at the County Floor and Vault Championships at Lincoln.

The aim of the game for the girls there was to qualify for the Lincolnshire county team, which is taking part in the Inter-County Championships.

In the ten years age group, Evie Fox was 12th and Jessica Parberry 20th as the girls found it a little difficult.

Spalding had a much better time of it in the 11 years group, however, with Darcy Orford winning the gold medal with the highest score of the day. As well as being crowned floor and vault champion, she also qualified for the county team.

Meanwhile, Aimee Speechley was another to qualify for the county team with fourth place in the 12 years age group.

Team-mate Olivia Fokt also performed well to take a solid ninth.

More medals came in the 13 years group, with Daisy Cross taking silver and Daisy Cottage landing bronze. However, neither made the county squad.

Spalding were well-represented in the aged 14 and over group, with Amelia Fox (fifth), Georgina Harrison (sixth) and Samantha Fones (seventh) all placing well.

Fox’s performance was also enough to clinch a county place.
