Nothing funny about laughing gas litter as tractor damaged by canisters in Holbeach park

A grass cutting tractor has been damaged after running over and taking up discarded metal canisters of nitrous oxide – also known as laughing gas.

At the recent Holbeach Parish Council meeting, Coun Paul Foyster raised the issue of gang mowers cutting the grass in Carters Park being damaged by the small metal containers.

A solution discussed at the meeting is to change to a rotary mower.

A spokesperson for Holbeach Parish Council said: “Nitrious oxide canisters have become more widespread during the last 12 months, and a regular problem.”

Nitrous oxide is not a banned substance.

Drugs information website Frank desribes its possible effects as “feelings of euphoria, relaxation and calmness”, as well as “dizziness, difficulty in thinking straight and fits of giggles or laughter”.
