Police capture wanted sofa scam man

A man has been arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation and returned to prison after breaching the tems of his license.

Lincolnshire Police issued a warning this week following a spate of reports of a man asking for money to pay for a sofa that had just been delivered.

He visited Crowland and Spalding residences.

Police say one resident handed over £40.

On Tuesday morning, a police spokesperson said: “A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation.

“Although he has been released under investigation for those offences, he was wanted on a recall to prison for breaching the terms of his licence so has been returned to prison.”

Insp Gareth Boxall tweeted that 17 offences were being investigated in relation to the arrested man.

During the appeal, Lincolnshire Police released a photofit image of the man they were looking for to assist with their enquiries.
