Spalding restaurant Amici in line for regional award

A Spalding Italian restaurant could be about to win a regional award.

Amici Restaurant, in Vine Street, has been selected for the final of the first East Midlands Awards 2017 in the Italian Restaurant of the Year category.

The finalists have been chosen on the number of nominations received from customers online, via email and social media.

Amici owner Ivan Pastore said: “I knew we had a lot of good reviews on Trip Advisor.” He added that the trattoria, which will have been in Spalding for 11 years this October, prided itself on its authentic ingredients and meals prepared in house.

“We have had to sacrifice a lot,” he added. “It’s not nine to five, it’s more like nine to midnight. We have some amazing customers and are meeting new people all the time.”

Organisers say the aim of the awards is to “highlight everything that makes the East Midlands great”. An award ceremony will be held at The Athena, Leicester, on September 4.

Winners will be decided on the number of nominations plus supporting evidence supplied by the businesses. Amici will be up against establishments from throughout the region.

The restaurant will re-open on August 22 following staff holiday.
